Who We Are
Ontrack Webhosting Services is a small privately owned and operated Webhosting Provider that offers webhosting services primarily to small and large railroad companies, railroad museums, railroad historical societies, railroad union websites, personal railfan websites, and other entities or small businesses that are not necessarily restricted to just the railroad industry.

Our Goals
Our goals here at Ontrack are to try to maintain as fast and efficient of servers as we possibly can by not loading our servers anymore than absolutely necessary. Even though Ontrack is a small privately operated hosting provider we still feel that we can provide you the same equal service as the “Big Guys” can, maybe even better. Our Servers
Ontrack uses only high quality HP Proliant Series commercial grade rack mount servers because of their well known reliability and performance. All Ontrack’s servers are equipped with multiple 10,000 RPM Ultra 320 Hot Swappable SCSI hard drives, and are configured with a Raid 5 array for the most reliable data protection possible.

Server Hardware
All of Ontrack’s servers are equipped with Dual Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz/400MHz - 512KB or higher Processors, Dual NC7781 PCI-X Gigabit NIC (embedded) 10/100/1000 WOL (Wake on LAN) (embedded), 4GB of PC2100 DDR SDRAM running at up to 266MHz with Advanced ECC and Online Spare capabilities, as well as dual 400 watt power supplies for redundancy.

Our Network
Ontrack’s High Performance Carefully Managed Web-Servers are located in South Bend, Indiana, United States of America. Ontrack’s network connects to two OC3's, one to Level3 at 111 North Canal in Chicago, Illinois and the other OC3 is to WVFIber at 350 East Cermak in Chicago, Illinois. Our servers are connected locally at 100 MBPS. All of our servers are wired into dual uninterruptible UPS’s, as well as connected to a backup diesel generator.

Software
Ontrack utilizes the CentOS operating system. CentOS is a highly configurable system, and well known for speed and stability along with their well known support and prompt update releases. CentOS Linux servers have been documented to remain operating for up to one year at a time without requiring a reboot. Moreover, the Apache Web-Server compliments nicely the CentOS Linux Operating System. You can find out more information about CentOS at http://www.centos.org.

Ontrack also uses one of the best hosting control panels around today called H-Sphere created by Psoft.

Hsphere is installed on every server Ontrack owns and adds convenience to managing your hosting account without the need for us to make changes in your account for you. All changes can be made by you though the H-Sphere Web Hosting Control Panel.

Security and Management
All of Ontrack’s servers are professionally managed; security and software updates are made to our servers on a regular basis to keep your data and our servers operating as efficently, safely, and reliably as possible. We also perform off server backups and retain those backups just incase something would possibly go wrong.

Please Note: Even though we do our own backups, we still recommend and strongly encourage that you do your own remote backups, because we just cannot guarantee that your data will always be retrievable or available from our backups. We will not be held liable if something should go wrong and we are unable to recover your data from our own backups.
